Brett Burney from http://www.appsinlaw.com
Jeff Richardson from http://www.iphonejd.com

Welcome to In the News for August 21st, 2026.

It's a special edition today.

I am Brett Burney from Appsinlaw.com.

And this is Jeff Richardson from iPhoneJD.

This is going to be fun, Brett.

It is going to be fun.

So we do this maybe once or twice a year.

We get away from your normal in the news posts that you do every Friday, Jeff,

which obviously that's been sort of the foundation of our podcast

because it's fun to talk about the news.

But around this time, late summer, as we are getting ready and hoping for the new hardware announcements from Apple and all the other things that start happening around the fall, not just even with Apple, it's fun to just kind of take a break.

And I think we've done like some travel tips before.

We've done some other shows that are just a little bit different.

And today, we're just going to call this our favorite things.

We're going to focus on some apps that we like, some gadgets.

I thought of this.

We'll do raindrops on iPhones and whiskers on gadgets.

So why don't we just jump in and we'll kind of go ping pong back and forth between different

apps and different products.

We've got a list that we're working from and we'll see how many that we get from.

Why don't you go first, Jeff?

I'll go first because I just did a post on Monday of this week of something that, and

as I started my post, I mean, it's so fun when you get something, it's like, I'm going to

try this out.

And sometimes people send me things to review or sometimes I buy something.

This is one that was sent to me, but I was just so amazed how much I love it.

And like, this is now one of my favorite things.

And just like everything we're going to talk about today, my hope is like, if you hear our

passion, then maybe you might want to try out one of these things.

And so what are we talking about?

We're talking about a company called Oh Snap and they make the thing called the Snap Grip

Stand.

And you can see it's on the back.

If you're looking at the video version, it's attached to the back of my iPhone right now.

And it just comes right off, you know, it just detaches with MagSafe.

So it's just a little magnet and you stick it on.

And when you pop it up, it's just like the old pop sockets of, you know, the pop sockets

are still around today.

that pop sockets makes one that's similar to this too that's very thin but this one is really nice

because it just sort of extends to the back of the phone and it pops out with these little plastic

things and you can you know put your finger in it or put your finger around it and then suddenly

you are holding your phone and so it means that you can hold your phone with one hand and also use it

with the same hand depending upon you know how far your thumb can go or you can hold your phone

securely in one hand as you're touching it with the other hand and it's nice it makes it more secure

Now, I don't have a case.

Some people have a phone case and some phone cases may not have something to grab onto.

I don't.

But this gives me a little bit more security on my phone.

It's nice and sturdy in my hand, whether I'm like, you know, walking through the airport

or doing it or even if I'm just in bed just to stop it from like sliding off my hands.

It's nice.

I like having it.

But the reason I have not used one of these in the past is because they sort of add to

the bulk of the iPhone and I don't want to have it all the time.

And that is the key.

this thing is so darn thin. It's basically the same as the camera plateau, which as I pointed out in

my review means when I set down my iPhone on a tabletop, it takes away that wobble that you have

because you've got the plateau on one side. So it makes it perfect. So it actually improves

as opposed to taking away from the bulk and the experience. And then it's got other nice features

too. You know, it's MagSafe. And so I can stick it right here on my little MagSafe stand. And now

my phone is in standby mode. I'm looking at the time with the big numbers and stuff, which is nice.

It will charge through the MagSafe connection, not as fast. Don't get me wrong. And as I noted in my

review, the connection's not perfect. So like, this isn't the best way to charge your phone,

but if you just want your phone topped off while it's sitting there in standby mode, it works.

Plus you can pop it out and you can make it a stand. And so if you just want to pop up your phone

or an upside or whatever. So like, it's all these useful things and it adds functionality

and there's no downside.

So I've talked about this more than I intended

because some of these will do more quickly,

but like it's a really nice little device

and it's like 40 bucks

or even less if you buy two of them.

So if you've at all thought about one of these,

you should take it out.

And even if not,

because I personally have been a person that's like,

ah, that's not for me.

That's just what the kids have,

but it's really useful.

I was going to say,

it's just really weird to see you

with a pop socket like device.

You are not a pop socket kind of guy, Jeff.

And it's just so weird to kind of see you

because I've always summarily just dismissed those.

because I don't like the bulk, just like you said.

And frankly, I always thought that you had to like,

there's a very strong adhesive

that goes on the back of your phone.

Oh, that's why I would never do it.

And I didn't want to do any of that.

Yeah.

And so, but here's the thing.

Is it strong enough?

Because if it's MagSafe, it can pop off.

Is it strong enough that you trust it

even if you're just kind of holding it with your finger?

I mean, you've got a picture here.

That is the number one thing, but it is super strong.

Look at that.

You're holding it up there.

It is not going anywhere.

If I had any hesitation about it, I'd be, oh, I'm not using this thing.

Now, I mean, I'm not going to hang it off of the Empire State Building like that or something like that.

You know, you got to be careful because you can pull it off if you pull hard enough, which is the whole point, because you do want to pull it off and you can do so.

But it's that right.

I mean, believe me, the company understands this.

They wouldn't have sold it if it was going to come off easily.

Good point.

Yeah.

I don't know if it's because it's not only the circle.

You may convince me.

But also this bottom part, too, because, you know, MagSafe is more than just a circle, right?

It extends down, too.

And so whatever, I mean, I guess it's just aluminum, but whatever they make this thing

out of, it is really, really strong.

It's incredible.

Very nice.

Okay.

So here to the point you made earlier, I do use this Apple clear case on my phone.

Now this case, I can put it on like, you know, we're going to talk probably about some other,

you know, wireless chargers without our MagSafe.

And this case still works just perfectly with those.

But I don't know if the case would interfere with that OhSnap device on there.

I don't know.

Because you just put it directly onto the back of your phone here.

And I would think maybe that could be a little bit stronger.

However, I know that inside this case, like if I take it off, I see the MagSafe circle in the case.

In other words, Apple has the pass through.

Right.

They extend it so that it's also just as strong on the outside.

Now, some third-party cases may not do that, but Apple does with its.

and then lastly you say that the other bonus it can also be a fidget spinner you noticed this

i will sometimes sort of sit there and spin it around and play with it in my hand and stuff like

that and it is it's just a fun little thing just to sort of play with so not that you're necessarily

buying it for that reason but you know yeah you may have convinced me i might have to try this out the

oh snap plus i just like the fact that it's oh snap okay we won't spend as much time as we have

on this but i know you just reviewed it i wanted to ask you about that anyway uh here's what i'm

going to throw out. Bluetooth speaker. I mean, there's dozens and dozens and dozens of these,

right? And I got to tell you, there's so many out there to choose from. I got a bunch of cheap ones

in the past, but I got to tell you, I purchased the JBL Charge 5 from, I think I purchased it from

Dell. And I think I paid a little bit more. It retails for $180, Jeff. I mean, that's just crazy

for somebody to buy a Bluetooth speaker. But I have to tell you, out of all the Bluetooth speakers

that I have purchased. This one to me, it allows me to connect quickly and easily, which is great.

It allows multiple people in my family to connect and disconnect from it. In other words, like my

wife and I both use this and it's just so easy for us to jump on to this speaker and then start

playing it. The sound is one of the best that I've heard from a regular Bluetooth speaker and it's

waterproof. Now I've not, I'm not swam with this yet, but I just wanted to throw that out. You know,

JBL makes some other great speakers.

There's just tons and tons of Bluetooth speakers out there.

But if you really wanted one that I felt, I feel like is professional, consider the JBL

charge.

They also make the JBL flip, I think is another very popular model, right?

That a lot of people have on there.

But this is the one that I'm going to recommend.

I even got it in red.

It just, it feels sturdy.

I just, I like doing it.

This is my favorite Bluetooth speaker.

In fact, I take it all around the house and even travel with it.

Sometimes it's a little big to travel with unless you're driving or something like that.

But one of my favorite speakers on there just wanted to throw that one out.

And I'll just double check, you know, thumbs up on that one, too.

I don't know if the one that I have, it looks very much like this.

Maybe it's a slightly different JBL model, but it's essentially the same.

It's got a nice app to it.

It's very easy to carry around the house.

Yeah, very easy to carry outside.

We take it to the beach.

It is it's nice.

Now, again, when I'm inside my house, I'm using my HomePods for music.

But this is for those times when you just want to have like a little Bluetooth speaker.

and I don't use it a lot, but when we do use it, it's super nice. And the JBL sound is incredible.

I'm telling you, I'd like, yeah, just to me. I haven't done this, but my understanding is if

you get two JBLs, they will put a stereo mode in. I'd have you to average. I don't know if you've

tried that. I have not, but now I want to. And by the way, I have the JBL charge five. There is a

charge six, what that is more recent. So, and it's a little bit more expensive, but they still sell

to charge five or a little bit less. Yeah. Okay. Excellent tip. While we're on hardware, I mean,

a hardware device, I've said this before in the podcast, but I just have to talk about it. The

Apple, the Apple magic keyboard for iPad. You had this for years. I never had one because I'm like,

I don't use a keyboard with my iPad that much. I will tell you, it is so nice to have a device

that just makes my iPad more than it was before. Everything that I always use my iPad for using my

my stylus, my Apple pencil, anything else was all the same. But once I added the magic keyboard,

I started to do even more with it because of the keyboard, because it's so much easier to type.

I don't have to like find an external keyboard and sync it. It's just always there. When I don't

want the keyboard, I just lift up my iPad and take it off because it attaches magnetically.

Speaking of MagSafe, it is just, and then the keyboard shortcuts are so nice. Just to give you

one tiny example, I have recently been scanning a bunch of pictures that I've been finding from my

parents house because my parents are deceased and we're going through and finding all of their

photos and stuff like that and scanning them. And when I'm editing things in the photos app,

there's like a command that you can do for a photo. Apple causes, calls it magic. What is it? You

tap the three dots at the top, or I'm sorry, you tap the little thing to do an edit and it's called

the magic. Yeah. And I, whatever it's called, but right. You have to do like 16 different taps to do

it. Whereas if it's in a keyboard, you just do command E that's it. Just command E. And instantly

it does that change to the picture. And then I hit the right arrow, go to the next one,

and I do command D again. And so once you learn those little shortcuts, I mean, again,

we all know from a computer, you know, command P for print, command, you know, whatever,

U for underline, we know those, right? And we would never think of moving the cursor up to find the

part to make something bold or underlined or italics. We just know that the shortcuts for that

when you have a keyboard all the time. So it's a great product. It's expensive,

whatever it is, a couple hundred dollars.

But I'm telling you, you know, if you have an iPad or an iPad Pro,

they have different models.

It's just so nicely made.

So it's, if you ever, I was always on that fence.

And then finally I bought it.

And then once I bought it, I'm like, why didn't I buy this years earlier?

Yeah.

So, so nice.

Well, okay.

Well, I'm going to give you a little bit of slack there, Jeff,

because I'll tell you one of the reasons why you haven't done this before

is the earlier version of the Magic Keyboard was fantastic on its own.

But the one that you purchased is even better.

I mean, if you can see here, for example, it's thinner from the way that even like where you plug in the USB-C, you actually have the function key.

Because now I've got one, too.

I went ahead and upgraded.

You have that function key row at the very top.

Very nice.

Very nice.

Awesome to have because I even have an escape key on there.

So I'm just telling you, don't be so S hard on yourself.

Because you would have been happy with it if you had bought it earlier on when I was telling you to buy it.

Because I've always had one of these for my iPad.

But anyway, it's good.

Now, I'm going to flip it around and come back to you.

Because one of the things that you always did was just had the Apple folio case for your iPad, right?

And so you didn't have the keyboard because you had the folio case.

And here, the whole time, I was thinking, well, that's ridiculous, Jeff.

Why would you do that?

I'm just going to keep it in the keyboard because I want to have the keyboard on there.

Well, I've seen the light, my friend, and I appreciate it.

Now, I didn't go with the Apple folio on this, but I love this.

I love sometimes using it in the keyboard.

And then sometimes I'll take it out of my keyboard, just like you said, it's easy to pull out.

And I will put it into the folio.

Now, why would you do that?

First of all, it's a little less bulky without the keyboard.

There are times when I'm just holding the iPad as if I'm like reading a book or something like that.

And I just like having it without the keyboard.

because if you have it in the keyboard, you can only have it in landscape mode, right?

You can't really go into portrait mode with the iPad.

So I got this Folio case, and I like this one.

It's a weird name, Pitaka, P-I-T-A-K-A.

I got it off of Amazon.

But one of the things that I love about it, it's very good quality.

It was highly rated.

But the thing that I liked about it is that it has this origami back end.

If you remember, what was that company that made a case for the Bluetooth?

I used to own it, but yeah.

You know what I'm talking about, right?

The Apple keyboard, because it used to be a fold-out case.

It wasn't 12 South, I don't think.

I can't remember now.

Anyway, this is in a similar fashion because what you can do now is you can see if I'm showing the picture here, it's kind of hard to explain, but you can origami the back and you can just fold it up so that basically it becomes a stand for the iPad.

And I just like this.

I mean, the Apple Folio is fantastic, but I went ahead and got this, the Pitaka Folio case for the iPad.

And then both of us have the iPad Pro, you know, 13 inch.

Anyway, this works out great for my needs.

So there's both the key.

Now I carry both the Apple Magic Keyboard for the iPad and this Folio.

And it sort of just depends on the mood that I'm in on which one that I have the iPad in at any time.

And it's very easy to move them back and forth.

Yeah, there were two Folio cases I used to use.

It was originally one by a company called InCase.

And then more recently, the Canopy Studio Nate, which were all very good.

Okay.

I'm going to switch to an app.

And this is a new app to talk about.

This is an app called Unforgetful.

Okay.

Oh, okay.

And it comes from Marco Arment, who is on the

Oh, yeah.

We like Marco.

Yeah.

He's on the

What's the name of the podcast he's on?

Goodness.

It's a very popular podcast.

Accidental.

Is it Accidental?

ATP, the Accidental Tech Podcast.

But he also creates the app called Overcast,

which I guess I'll do two for one.

Overcast is my favorite app for listening to podcasts.

Every once in a while,

I'll use the Apple Podcast app for a specific reason,

but I keep going back to Overcast

because even everything that I love

in the Apple Podcast app,

like for example, they had transcripts for a while.

Now Overcast has that too.

And in fact, Overcast does them better.

So Overcast is a great app for podcasts,

but the same person, Marco,

he made an app called Unforgetful.

And his sort of shtick on it was that,

he says, I, Marco, probably have ADHD.

that, you know, I focus on things. And he says that the Apple reminders app, it's really good

for putting a reminder in there. You can just say, Hey, you know, who remind me to do such and such

at such and such a time. And it stores that. But what he doesn't like is that when the reminder

then comes up from the built-in reminders app, if you don't pay attention to it at first,

it can just sort of go away and then like, forget about it and you never come back.

So what he does with Unforgetful is it uses the underlying Apple reminders database. So just

Create the reminder the same way you always do, which is typically going to be using Siri.

But instead, go to the settings app and turn off notifications for the built-in reminders

app.

You're not going to need them.

And instead, you only have reminders turned on for this Unforgetful app.

And it has a really nice interface that when something comes up, it's going to always be

there until you've done the task.

So it'll come up and you can't just make it go away.

When it pops up, you can go away, but you can basically say either it's done or...

Or remind me again in one hour, in four hours, tomorrow.

It's like all little options right there that make it super easy.

And the idea is you'll keep getting, they're not ridiculously annoying reminders, but you'll

keep getting reminders.

If you ever create a reminder that doesn't have a date associated with it, if you put

in the reminders app, don't forget to pick up my laundry.

If you don't put a date, the reminders app will never tell you unless you just happen

to go to the reminders app and see it.

But Unforgetful will.

If there's no date or time associated, it will let you know.

I think you can set it in the app.

It's like nine o'clock in the morning or something like that.

But it will just tell you.

And if you have multiple reminders at the same time, I think it spaces them out so you don't

get them all at once.

So I just started using this app over the weekend.

It's a brand new app.

And I can already tell it's better.

And again, it's not like you're not using the built-in reminders app.

You still are.

And you can still edit things there.

But Unforgetful is the way to give you notifications.

And the last thing that I'll say is, although, of course, things are on my iPad,

I wore an Apple watch.

So that's where I'm usually getting my notifications.

And so it works great.

So like the Unforgetful app will give me a notification on my watch and I can either say

done if it's done or remind me tomorrow or remind me in an hour, remind me in four hours.

So if you consider reminders important to you, you should check out this app.

It's worth doing.

It's I forget what it is.

It's got a fee to it, but it's got a very generous one month free trial.

So like a month is more than enough time

for you to decide whether you like it or not.

And then if you do like it, you can go ahead and buy it.

And I forget how much it was,

but it wasn't terribly much, whatever it was.

I'm definitely gonna try this.

I can't find the pricing on this,

but I love that because sometimes those reminders

do come on my lock screen and I don't try to,

I'm like, oh, I just gotta leave that.

And I hope that it'll stay around

because I wanna be remembered.

So if there was one app that I wanna pay for,

it would be something from Marco Armin.

And boy, he's really leaning into this on the ADHD.

He says, never lose the task for procrastinators, ADHD, and forgetful people.

Zero shame or judgment.

Thank you.

Okay, that speaks to me.

I love that.

It looks like it's $20 a year, by the way, is the price.

But $20 a year, but you get an entire month to try it.

And if you're 29 days into it, you don't feel like you're using it.

Just cancel it.

You won't pay a thing.

So, okay, go ahead.

Okay, I'm going to take that idea and expand it just a little bit.

Microsoft OneNote.

Sounds like it could be a little bit of a boring thing.

But I got to tell you, you know, we talk so much about the Notes app on iPhone and a lot of people are using it.

And I do, too.

I love that.

This isn't an if, you know, if and or but.

This is in conjunction.

When I have a big project, like, for example, if I'm planning like a trip for the family and I've got a bunch of things that I'm doing a research on, I will typically create a Microsoft OneNote notebook.

And I just love it because everything syncs.

I just like the fact that I can pull things in.

I create one notebook in Microsoft OneNote, and then I create different sections.

Typically, my sections are like, here's the flight for the first day and the flight for the second day and the return flight.

And here's the hotel information.

And it's just a great place to keep everything.

Microsoft OneNote is free if you have a Microsoft account, if you don't want to pay for it.

But if you have access to a Microsoft 365 or Office account, you actually have access to Microsoft OneNote as well.

It usually stores the notebooks in your OneDrive account.

So again, there's so many things going on with OneNote.

I don't typically use, you know, there's so many notepads out there, you know, from, what

is it, Bear and Ulysses and, you know, the Notes app and all those other things like

this.

But I still keep going back to Microsoft OneNote just because, A, I can access it anywhere

from a web browser.

I can access it from any device, my iPad, my Mac, my Windows computer, my iPhone.

And it's just a great place to keep everything.

Plus, I can share those notebooks a lot of times with family as well if I need to or whoever else that I'm working with.

So I just wanted to throw that out there as something that I typically use a lot.

Good tip.

My next one is another hardware tip, the Anker Laptop Power Bank.

Ooh, let's talk some Anker stuff.

This is a device that I love it.

I use it all the time.

It is sort of big, but not too horrible.

I mean, it's got some weight to it, but you can definitely put it into your bag.

And it just has a ton of power.

It can charge an iPad.

It can charge an iPhone.

It can charge an iPhone many, many, many times over, and it can charge multiple things at once.

Plus, it's got built-in cords.

Both the handle is a cord, and there's a pullout cord at the top.

I use it when I'm using my Apple Vision Pro because it wears down the battery a lot.

So I'll just sit there on the couch and plug it into this, and I've got basically unlimited power.

When I travel, when I go to a deposition, I can't always trust that there's going to be a power source where I'm sitting in the conference room.

But I just have this next to me, and then my iPad on my phone's got unlimited power.

I use it for travel, for vacation.

So it's a great device. It's around a hundred bucks. And once you buy it, you will use it over and over again. It's got a display that tells you how much power is left. I mean, it's, I can't, I've purchased them for other friends and family and they all love them. It's, it's, it's great.

Well, you may need to purchase one for me as well, because I'm going to get ready to purchase it.

Because if you, we've talked about this, this saved us a year ago when you and I recorded a podcast at the ABA Tech Show.

And this thing was powering both of our laptops, I think, or maybe my iPad, in addition to everything else that we were doing, which was amazing.

And since then, Jeff, I have probably seen about three or four of these in the wild.

And every time I see it, I'm like, oh, that's somebody that knows what they're doing.

And anyway, I just, I love it.

I haven't pulled the trigger on this yet just because it is a little big and heavy.

And it's like I've already got so many other batteries and things in my travel briefcase.

But, man, there's been several times when this could have saved my butt, I think.

And, you know, just being able to have all of that power available is a good thing.

That's good.

Let's continue the Anchor train for a little bit.

There's so many things I know that you and I could talk about on Anchor.

This is one of my favorite devices that now has a permanent place in my travel bag, which is the Anker 7GAN Prime.

Now, Anker makes all kinds of what, you know, I guess I call them like the wall chargers, right?

You see these all the time.

I usually get rid of all of those Apple wall chargers, the white ones all the time, just because, you know, they're really built for just maybe one thing at a time.

I only carry this one wall charger now.

And I elected to get the 120 watt because this now can power three devices at the same time.

And it's great.

Again, they make tons of little smaller ones that people can get.

The 65 watt, you know, the higher you go up, the more power that it can provide to your devices at any one time.

But this has become my favorite.

And then in addition to that, I also have several anchor cables, USB-C to USB-C cables.

And I like these anchor cables.

A lot of times you and I have talked about this.

These are braided cables.

And so they don't rip and tear.

I mean, I can't tell you how many times

I've seen some of those Apple cables like bend.

They've been bent so many times

that then the wires are starting to come out.

Get yourself some very good high-end braided cables,

whether it's USB-C to C or USB-A to USB-C,

whatever it is that you need,

anchor probably makes it.

Other good ones are Belkin,

you and I have talked about before.

But this is pretty much all that I travel with.

I've got like four Anker USB-C to C cables that I travel with.

Some are a little bit longer, a couple of three-footers and six-footers.

And then I use that Anker Prime, GAN Prime, and it's fantastic.

This is now my travel grouping that I have.

Yeah, the GAN stuff, you know, capital G, lowercase A, capital N is great because it

means that the charger is much smaller and it's very powerful.

And I use a different brand of one, but having a three USB-C and a single charger is just

wonderful for travel.

I use it all the time.

My next tip is going to be another Anker product.

Maybe the last one I'll do.

Yeah, okay.

I just love this one so much.

And you can probably guess, it's the Anker Prime wireless charging station.

This is one of those three-in-one charge things.

So like you plug it in, it just sits there on your desk, on your nightstand, or next to

your computer, wherever you are, and it can charge your iPhone.

And at the same time, it can charge your Apple Watch.

And at the same time, it can charge your AirPods.

And it's so useful.

And I've used a number of three-in-one wireless chargers over the years.

Yeah.

I have a different one in front of me at my office here.

But this Anker Prime one, it folds up so nice and small.

And it's just so useful that I bought one originally for my wife because she wanted one.

And I coveted it so much that I bought myself one too when it came on a little bit of sale for Amazon Prime Day or something like that.

And I use it whenever I travel.

I use it at home next to my desk.

It's just really, really useful.

I love standby mode.

I love keeping things charged.

You know, my Apple watch that I wear right now,

because I don't have the ultra like you do,

my battery life is good on it, but not quite as good.

So like if it's the end of the day

and I know that I'm gonna still do

like an Apple fitness workout at night.

And so I wanna have my Apple watch to keep up with me.

And I see I'm already down to like 20%.

I'll just take it off, stick it on here for five minutes

and that gives a ton of power.

And then I'm good to go and it's all good.

So I love this thing.

It's so useful, so nice.

The only thing I'm mad about with you on this is that you reviewed this Ugreen 3-in-1.

Which is also good too.

This is the one that I travel with.

I got it because I wanted to travel.

And I'm so mad because I bought this one because I thought, oh, this is perfect for travel.

And then you reviewed this other Anchor one.

And I'm like, man, I would have wanted that one.

I like this one.

All of these.

And the Ugreen, like you said, it's fantastic.

Like it's just, it's not, you know, I can't complain that much because it works exactly what I want.

it when i travel this is what i put on my nightstand when i go to a hotel because it'll charge my phone

and i like having the phone in standby mode overnight because that's my alarm clock and

you know that has the time and everything and it also charges my apple watch if i wanted to take

it off just like you in the morning i put it on there right and you reviewed this not too long ago

as well this was what back in october and i like this too yeah and anchor was better and i'm like

you know what it's 100 bucks it's better than what i already have i'm just gonna spend it and i'm so

happy I did. So how about let me let me throw in an app. I was just talking about travel. So

why don't we go to one that I know both of us are very, very excited about just because we talk

about it a lot. Flighty.com. If you travel any amount, like maybe once a month or so, I would say

consider getting the Flighty app. You and I have also talked about TripIt.com. And, you know,

there's some overlap with some of these services that they do. Although I use the free version of

trip.com. I like that because it just is a great place to keep all of my itineraries. That's where

I forward everything. When I get it, you know, um, uh, an airline reservation or a hotel reservation,

everything goes into trip it because from a free version, it just keeps track of all of those

places. And, you know, all of those items in one place for me, as opposed to looking at my email

all the time. But the reason that I like flighty is when I send an airline reservation into trip

even if I have the free version, Jeff, it will synchronize those flights with Flighty.

And so as soon as I put it into TripIt, it synchronizes over to Flighty,

and then I can go into my Flighty app, and I see all of my airline reservations in there.

And this, I got to tell you, this just keeps me so up to date on what's happening with my flight.

It gives me all the information that I need.

They just recently put in some kind of, not just the flights themselves,

but they'll start telling you about the different airports and what you can anticipate or expect.

And they're using AI tools.

They're also using weather components, and they can even predict for you what there might be a delay or something coming up.

And it's just amazing, these developers, what they have done.

I love the fact that even on the plane, if I don't pay for Wi-Fi, you can get on the free, you know, they'll give you the free messaging, right?

And that will allow the Flighty app to stay updated so that you can see if you're flying, you know, going to be delayed or anything else on there.

Anyway, just can't say enough.

It's about $50 a year, I think, for Flighty.

And I pay it happily every year.

Yeah, I love it, too.

I can't say enough good things about Flighty.

So since you talk about travel, I'm going to talk about an app, too.

And this is the 1Password app.

And I'm talking about it now because I recently did a post that we talked about about a week or two ago where I was wondering whether or not the 1Password app,

Uh, it has this very special feature of it, of, you know, um, I forget what they call

it, but it basically can remove everything from the app to keep things like a travel

mode.

Um, and so, and I did, you know, there's a question about whether that violates a statute

or not, but I just want to step back and say, yeah, there it is.

The travel mode feature.

But aside from that one password as an app, it's the first app I would install on a phone.

If I was going to set up my phone from scratch, because of course it has my iPhones on it,

my passwords on it, excuse me, but it has so many other information. I mean, it's got,

you know, information about websites and, and, and software licenses and social security numbers

of people in my family and password information. And just like every important bit of information

stuff that, you know, it has to do with work. That's sort of private and confidential. I use

their secure note feature just to keep it super secret. I mean, it, it is, and it's

cross platform. So it works on my phone. It works on my iPad. It works on my PC. It works on my Mac.

It works everywhere.

It works on my Vision Pro.

I mean, everywhere that I am, it is there.

And it means that I don't have to worry about passwords.

And it's ready for when we have the future of going passwordless.

It can store pass keys.

I'm not a big pass key person right now, but I know that as I start to use it, it's there.

So look, it's just like you need to have a password manager.

Just remembering different passwords for different websites is going to get you into trouble.

You're going to end up repeating passwords.

And 1Password is my favorite.

Of course, Apple has a good passwords app too.

Kudos to Apple for making their built-in free passwords app good.

But for me, it's worth paying for something.

Plus, you can share it amongst family members.

It's just a great app.

Oh, yeah.

Another quick little travel thing.

I just got to show this to you real quick.

I do a lot of travel, go through security every time that I got to fly on a plane, right?

I used to wear these belts that had the metal buckle.

Sometimes it would have the machine go off.

Sometimes it wouldn't have to take it off.

Well, I just spent $30 maybe, I don't know, about six months ago or so for a, quote, travel belt.

Really what this is, it's more of like an elastic band, I feel like sometimes.

But it's nice enough that I went ahead and got it off of Amazon here.

You can see it's called the Arcade Unisex Adventure Stretch Belt.

It's elastic webbing.

You can tighten it up.

But I just got to tell you, it works great.

It's very comfortable.

And I have never had to take it off when I go through security.

So just throwing it out there.

I elected to go with the black, but you can get like there's the black and khaki.

There's the Heather black and even Ranger Peaks camo gray.

Wouldn't do that.

Like for me, from a professional level, I went with the black because I felt like that was just kind of, you know, under the radar there.

But just wanted to throw that out.

We've talked about some serious apps.

So I'm going to jump to something that's fun, but it is good.

I reviewed this app.

What was it?

August of 2025 called Cassette, like a cassette tape.

It's called Cassette.

Oh, yeah.

And what this is, it takes the videos that are on your iPhone.

You know, sometimes I'll take like a little video of something, my kid doing something

silly or something silly that I see.

And if you go into the built-in photos app, you could go and find the part with the videos

and just look at random videos, but you have to open and close them one at a time, manual

stuff like that.

What cassette will do is you just pick a year and then it will just show part of a video

and then you flip up and then it shows the next video and you flip up and it shows the

next video and you flip up.

And it's just like a way to sort of flip through.

And it has the shtick of it is that it puts as if it's an old VHS cassette tape.

I see that here.

That font of the time, of the date and the place, you know, as if you're looking at cassette tape.

And that is sort of, if you're people of my age, it is amusing because it reminds me of VHS tapes.

But even aside from that, it's just a way to sort of like pick a random year, pick a random month and just flip through videos one after another.

And it just makes me smile because it's like, oh, yeah, I totally forgot.

We were at that Mardi Gras parade and somebody did that silly thing.

And then you watch it for five or 10 seconds and slips into the next one.

It's silly, but it makes me smile.

I'll give another quick fun one.

It's nothing new, though.

Shazam.

I'm just going to say Shazam to me.

Let's see.

I don't know if I have an actual link here.

When did Apple purchase Shazam?

Because it's been a while.

It's been a long time ago.

But, you know, as opposed to other things that they purchased, Jeff,

I feel like that they've just kind of left Shazam as its own separate app.

I mean, I just assumed that they were maybe going to build this into their own Apple music

app now, but it seemed like that they haven't.

In other words, it's still separate.

So the tip that I have quickly on this is the Shazam app is great.

And I know I've talked about this before, and it's crazy how often I find myself now

pumping into the Shazam app to say, oh, what's that song?

That's fun.

Like if it's a beat, if I'm walking through a department store, for example, or if I went down to Starbucks and they got a song on the radio, you know, on the on the speakers.

And I'm like, what is that? I created a little widget or I made it as a widget on my lock screen.

And that to me has just enabled me to jump right into it without having to like open up, unlock my phone and then go and find the Shazam app somewhere.

I just love that idea.

And because I use Spotify, thank you, Apple, for allowing me to still use Spotify with Shazam.

And so it'll give me the ability to link directly into Spotify, go to that song, and it'll keep a record, a history of all of those songs that I have Shazammed when I've been out and about.

I know.

I love that.

I just mean it because I can just Shazam it.

In fact, there's even like a constant mode, I think, on it now that you can just leave it going if you were at a dinner or something like that.

I don't want to do that.

But I just like being able to say, you know, at the end of the day, I can go back and say, what was that song?

And I can re-listen to it.

Just like having the ability to Shazam all the time.

I was talking about nostalgia a little bit in my last pick.

My next pick is going to be the Kodak Slide and Scan Digital Scanner.

And this is something I reviewed it.

When was it?

A couple, about a year ago.

But I used it as recently as last night.

As I mentioned before, I've been going through my parents' house and finding all sorts of like old photos from the 80s and the 90s and the 2000s.

And also many times they will get like, you know, they have all the photos that are still in the envelope where they develop them at the drugstore.

But they still have the strips, right?

You know, the 35 millimeter strips in there.

And the thing is I can scan the actual photo on my scanner and it does a pretty good job.

But if you actually have the film strip and you slide that into here, you end up getting a better quality photo.

Now, I will tell you that some of these film strips over time, they do through age tend to color.

So like if I find some film strips from way back in the 80s, sometimes when I first scan it, it will be a little yellow or a little red.

Like it'll have a color tint to it just because the film changes over time.

But if I then just use whatever photo program you use, I use Photomator, but whatever one you want to use to adjust that you can use Photoshop for this, you know, you can adjust the levels like the red and the yellow and the green, the photos app can.

Oh, OK. Yeah. Yeah. When all you do is just, you know, dial up or down the red, yellow or green.

It just takes a second. And then suddenly you have a pretty good looking strip.

And this Kodak product, it's a consumer product. It's not a professional product.

And so it's not going to be, you're not going to be, you know, contributing the photo to National Geographic or something like that.

But it is more than good enough to have a nice version.

And again, it's better than just scanning, unless you have like a big 8x10.

Well, if you scan 8x10, that's big.

But if it's just like a 4x6 or 5x7 or 3x5, you can typically get better quality.

Now, sometimes there'll be dust on it and you have to clean those up too.

But the point is that you can very quickly go through and take all these old photos and you bring them to life again.

And suddenly, you know, my 30th birthday party that I haven't seen since I was 30, I suddenly

have those pictures again on my iPhone and my iPad.

And it's fun.

And it's pretty quick to scan.

So like I said, I literally was, I've been using it a lot lately.

I was just using it last night and it works really, really well.

And while I'm here, I'm just going to have a companion tip that for these old videos that

I found at my parents' house, whether it was eight millimeter film or even like a whole

bunch of VHS, you know, VHSC cassette tapes. I used a service called Legacy Box and you send

them off to Legacy Box. You wait a couple of weeks and they send you the digital versions.

And I've now done that for every video that was in my parents' house. I have literally,

I don't even know how many hundred, you know, multiple hundreds of videos. I haven't even

started to process them all yet. I'm going to be doing this over the next few years, you know,

bringing them into like Final Cut Pro or whatever and editing them down and stuff like that.

But like, but the videos are preserved. I no longer have to worry about the eight millimeter

film or the VHS because VHS tapes are just horrible. They, they, they get, you know,

scrambled over time. That's right. That's right. So at least I now have them all digitized.

And so, um, anyway, if you're finding old pictures or old photos or old videos,

these are just great to have. And then it's, you know, I've not used legacy box,

but I think I will. Cause I can tell this is, this is, you know, there's, there has been multiple,

multiple dozens of these types of companies. And I can't remember the one that I did use before.

It wasn't Legacy Box.

And it was fine.

But it's like, I want to be able to trust.

I mean, you're sending these people very precious items, right?

And to your point, I was like, I know that everybody listening to this probably has those

projects on the back burner.

It's like, one day I'm going to get to those old pictures of those little slides of those

old VHS tapes.

We've got several of them as well.

And I would just encourage you, like, don't wait too much longer.

Because every day that you wait is another day that it could degrade a little bit worse.

And it's just to your point, Jeff, it just makes people happy when you can go back and see some of those pictures before.

I've got a bunch of our – were they with a Super 8?

What was the smaller – I had one of those Casio little cameras.

Yeah, the Super 8.

And it's tons of our daughter's early years.

And my wife has constantly been asking me, like, are you ever going to do those?

Are you ever going to do those?

And I'm like, well, I have to get the right cables and everything.

I just need to get them sent off, get them converted into digitized so that we have them.

because it's going to make us so happy when we have them.

Yeah, good stuff there.

Okay, I'm going to go back to a couple,

well, I guess I'll call it a travel tip,

but eSims.

So I just wanted to let people know

about a couple of apps that I've used.

This is typically for when you are traveling

and you need to have data access when you're traveling.

Now, there's multiple ways to do this.

A lot of people have AT&T or Verizon or T-Mobile.

And so when they travel internationally

to a different country,

They just maybe pay $10 a day or whatever it is.

I think you've done that before, maybe for AT&T.

That's the easiest thing to do.

I completely agree with that.

It's the easiest thing to do.

However, when I travel internationally,

I'm not so concerned about having the ability to do phone calls,

but I absolutely have to have data access

because that's how I pay for things.

You know, that's how I get on the transit.

That's how I get my boarding pass.

So a couple of eSIM providers that I've used,

which have been very great. One is called Sally, S-A-I-L-Y. And the other one that I've used is

called GigSky. Now there's several others out there like Aralo and others that are out there,

but I'm just going to tell you, these things work great. You can add them as an eSIM stands for

basically an electronic SIM card, right? So you don't have to get a physical card. You just add

it and then you can go into your cellular settings on your phone and you can pick which cellular plan

that you want to use. And in these cases, you would just pick the Gixky or the Sally. Both of

them have apps. It explains everything you need to know in there. The other thing quickly, I'm going

to say with Gixky, because it's pretty inexpensive to purchase maybe two or three gigs. Sometimes I

might buy three or five gigs for me when we're traveling, but for the family, I only get them

two gigs or something, right? Because they don't need the data as much as I do for all the things

that I'm typically coordinating.

But with GIGSKY, if you have a certain high-end version

of a Visa credit card,

it comes with some free gigabytes.

Depends on the kind of credit card that you have.

Like if you have a Visa Infinite card,

which is like a Chase Sapphire Preferred,

or there's another one that is like the Capital One Venture X,

you can actually get like five gigabytes for free

for like up to like 15 days or whatever it is.

So just check into that.

Sally, S-A-I-L-Y, and GigSky are the two that I've used that I've been very happy with both of them.

And I just kind of use them to basically depending on, you know, if I have a credit on either one of them at any time.

My next tip is something that's been around for a long time.

It's called Backblaze.

I've never done a formal review of it on my website, but I did mention it like 10 years ago in a post I did of like some things that I pay for that are worth it.

But Backblaze is a backup service.

So, you know, for my computer at home, all of my stuff that's on it, like those photos

and videos I was just talking about, it is backed up on the cloud.

And so if my computer, you know, my house burnt down or something like that, I feel secure

knowing that there's a version of it on Backblaze.

And if there's any external drives connected to your Mac or your PC, it will also back those

up as well.

So for me, I have like all of those videos that I have from Legacy Box on an external

drive because they're sort of big, they take up some space, but they still get backed up

to Backblaze.

So of course it's a good backup service.

But the second reason I'm mentioning it today is, and this is sort of an iPhone thing.

Sometimes I will be out and about and I need to look at a file that's on my computer.

And it's not on like Dropbox or any other service.

It's just like on my computer and I don't have access to it.

And I'm like, oh, but like since it's on Backblaze, of course I could use the Backblaze service to like restore an entire drive.

But I can also use their iPhone app or their iPad app and jump on there and say, I just want to restore like that one file.

that I have in my photos folder or my documents folder on my Mac,

like this one particular thing.

And then you can just go in and like a couple seconds later, it's there.

And so then I can actually see it on my iPhone.

I could send it to somebody else if I need to,

or sometimes just look at it myself.

And I don't know that that's the intended use of Backblaze

because it's a backup service.

But if I just need to get that file, I can just get that file and it's nice.

So it's a good back.

No, it's not the only form of backup I use.

I also have a second external hard drive.

I use Time Machine at home to back up my computer as well.

But they always say that the best way to have a backup is to have the original, have something else that's there, and then something that's in the cloud.

And that way you're protected no matter what.

If the Backblaze service was to shut down tomorrow, I would still have that hard drive next to me.

And if my entire house burns down, so I lose both my main drive and the external Time Machine backup, I would have Backblaze.

I'm glad you mentioned this.

I haven't done this yet.

And this is another one of those things a lot of people say they have it on the back burner, right?

Like, well, one day I'm going to get a backup service.

By the way, this is not the same as like a Dropbox.

I mean, they kind of are the similar and what you just described is kind of,

but Dropbox is mainly for file storage and backup and archiving is a little bit different.

It just is another place to do it.

I've always wanted to do Backblaze.

I think David Sparks talked about Backblaze a whole lot back in the day, right?

And it is one of the better options out there.

Again, there's many others.

And today, people don't think about the backup quite as much until you really need it, right?

And, of course, that's when you really, really, really, really need it on there.

Okay, I'll do another one that's a little bit on the cheating side.

ChatGPT app on the iPhone.

All of us are getting more into AI options.

Some people like Claude.

My wife is big into Claude.

I have started going with ChatGPT.

And I got to tell you, there's a whole lot of things that I can do.

But the main thing quickly on the iPhone that I'm just enjoying so much is what they're generally calling this voice mode.

So I can basically have – I'm thinking of it as like a conversation with someone that is an expert in whatever topic that I'm asking about.

And I've actually just recently changed the voice in ChatGPT to be almost like a female with a British accent.

Because I feel like that that's a little bit more Jarvis-like, right?

If I was Iron Man, like this is the person that's like helping me out on whatever I need.

It's just amazing how far this has come now.

And I was just driving recently for a few hours today, and I literally had this app open.

And I was just like having a conversation, not because I wanted a friend, but because I wanted information about a particular topic.

And I would just kind of keep asking and dig a little bit deep.

Can you look at this?

Oh, well, that makes me think about this.

And what about this?

And it was, it's just an amazing way to, to, to, I'll give you another quick example.

My wife used Claude to do this.

Yesterday we were out walking, uh, walking the dog and the dog all of a sudden started

sniffing the ground and then rolling in this particular area.

And, and my wife was like, why do dogs do that?

She asked Claude and we basically had a conversation of exactly why dogs actually start rolling

around.

And if you really want to know, it's because whatever the smell is, a lot of times that they'll roll around and get the scent on them so they can take that scent back to the pack.

That's what Claude told us at least.

But it's like I would have never known because I was just yelling at the dog, like stop rolling around.

But there's a purpose for it on there.

So anyway, that's my tip.

And I have this as a widget on my lock screen as well.

So anytime that a thought comes or a question comes to my mind, I just pop open ChatGPT in voice mode.

And it also keeps track of all of that interaction on the back end, too.

So if I want to reference it later, I can do that.

Two quick questions.

Number one, do you pay for ChatGPT or just use the free version?

I pay for ChatGPT.

I decided to go and pay for that because I feel like it's the extra security and it opens it up to some additional features.

And my question number two is once we have the better version of Siri in iOS 27, continue to use, you know, or will this replace it?

And you don't know the answer to that, but it will be interesting to see.

I don't know yet.

Because it will have some of those same features.

I've thought about that.

Because, again, you and I have talked about this, and we'll talk about it more in the next few months.

You know, the fact that Siri, I would think of Siri when it comes with the AI as more of like my personal assistant from the standpoint of like, put that on the calendar.

you know reply to jeff in this text message do this kind of a thing whereas chat gpt again it's

like that's the encyclopedia britannica expert on whatever topic that i'm asking and i can just

it will have that in ios 27 too they call it i know i know so we'll see we'll have to see we'll

have to see yeah yeah okay my next one is let's talk about home automation and my favorite one

that i always recommend first is the lutron cassetta series lutron of all the things you

can do in your home to have a smart home, the ones that Lutron makes are the best. They're the most

reliable and it's just replacing your wall switch. And they have a bunch of different versions,

including some of the new ones that have dimmers in them and stuff like that. They look very nice.

So if you just look at it, it totally looks like a regular light switch, except that it can talk to

HomeKit and stuff. And so you can then say, hey, you know who, turn off the light in the dining

room, which could of course be multiple different things that you code to all be the dining room

lights or whatever it is. And they just work really, really well. They are just so dependable.

Again, I have other smart home technology in my house, but the Lutron stuff is the most

dependable. The one that I like the most just replaces your switch on the wall, but there's

another one that I use, which just plugs into like an outlet and you can plug a lamp into it or

something like that. And they just work great. And it's just so nice. And, you know, even the people

in my house that are not as tech savvy as me use them as well. It's just nice to be able to talk

into the air and say, hey, you know who, turn on the fan, turn off this or whatever. And it's great.

Now you wrote this review in 2023. How long have you been using Lutron switches?

A very, very long time. Even longer than that, right?

Yeah, I know. Way back when, way back when, long time ago.

Okay. And they are still working just as good. It's the point that I'm getting to there.

Absolutely. The new versions have some additional features like dimmers and stuff like that.

But even like the original Lutron that I originally put in the room that's got like our TV in it and

stuff like that continues to work strong. And that was, I don't even know, a decade ago,

a long time ago. It was great. Well, this is probably my next step because you know,

you started using the Eufy cameras for a long time until I finally jumped on that bandwagon.

And we can't imagine life without them now.

Like we just went on vacation as a family

and it was just wonderful to be able to check on the house.

There were some storms happening back in Ohio

when we were gone.

And it's like, it just was awesome

to be able to check on that.

I can get notifications when somebody's coming up

or a delivery is made.

But again, I give you full credit for that

because you were using the Eufy cams before.

Now this you were reviewed in 2021, the Eufy cam two pro.

We now have the S3 and the S4.

I think I have the S3s,

which have the solar power.

So it's great.

Like I haven't had to do anything with those

and they connect to my wifi home base.

They've been fantastic.

I replaced most of my Eufy Cam 2s with the three pros.

I think I maybe have one old two that's still working,

but the rest of them are three.

Now, sometimes I place mine in places

that just because of the way that the Eve works

on the side of my house,

that the solar doesn't get to it.

But the one that actually gets direct light,

I mean, it's fantastic.

But as you say, they now have the S4s, which are even more fancy because it's got multiple cameras.

So it's got one camera that's a wide view, one camera that can sort of spin around.

And so those are even nicer.

Now, I will say this.

As much as I love these products, because there are rumors that Apple is looking seriously at coming out with a smart home product and Apple might come up with a video camera.

Like if you were on the fence on this product category, I would probably wait till the end of this.

You don't have to wait till Christmas because Apple will announce something probably September or October or they won't.

But then again, Apple might be working on something that won't come out for another year.

So, I mean, you could always delay purchases forever if you're waiting for the next big thing.

But I will just tell you that right now in August of 2026, I do think there's a chance Apple will come out with something.

And if so, I would want to see how it compares to the Euphys.

Having said that, I'm happy with our Euphys.

They work 95% of the time.

5% of the time, it's just an issue.

Something comes up.

But we get so much value out of them.

Whether we're away from home, you can see what's going on.

Whether we're in the house and there's somebody at the door,

you know, whatever, what's going on.

It's just super nice.

So I definitely like the Euphys.

Okay, I'm just going to give a quick little, I guess, home automation.

It's a much more simplified home automation.

but I love this. I can't do without it. My new wave smart mug. You know, people know about the

Ember smart mugs that will basically keep your coffee or your tea warm. We tried those. We had

to replace several of them after, I don't know, about nine, 12 months or so. They just didn't

seem as dependable. My wife found the new wave N-U-W-A-V-E smart mugs at Costco. Both of us have

them. We've been using them for goodness, almost a year now, and they are fantastic. About $150.

You can find them for $100, I think, at Costco if you get the right one.

But just wanted to throw that in.

They're fantastic.

That's good.

My next tip is something that I reviewed a while ago on my website called Kobo Box, C-O-V-O-B-O-X.

And what it is, it is a company that takes old hardcover books and they cut out the inside of them.

And so it basically, when you put it on a bookshelf on your house, it looks like a bunch of books on the shelf.

But behind it, it was open.

Oh, look at that.

And so you can put something like, we were just mentioning the Lutron lights.

You need to have a Lutron hub somewhere.

You can put like your Lutron hub or you can put your, like your wifi router or things like

that, cords, things that you just don't want to have obnoxious, but you want to have them

somewhere on a shelf.

You just put this in front of it and anyone walking your house will just think it's a

bunch of books on the shelf.

And only you will know that behind it, it's actually holding things.

And they make a whole bunch of different kinds.

There's, there's signs that'll go flat in a table.

There's, there's ones that there's a bunch of different varieties.

They do.

They're not, they're not the cheapest thing.

You'd pay a little bit for them, but they're just, they, they work really well.

They look good though.

If you want them color coded, you can get them color coded.

I just got the random ones and it's totally fine, but it's, it's, it's nice.

And it can, you got all these electronics, you've got the smart home stuff, but you don't

want to have people seeing all the cords and stuff.

This is a nice way to hide it.

I love this, except like what happens when somebody walks up to the bookshelf and like,

Oh, I'd like to read that.

And they just kind of try to pull it off the shelf there.

Then they get a smile on their face when they realize what it is.

And like, oh, you are so clever.

That is cool.

Yeah, I think I remember you talked about this.

It's been a few years since you reviewed this.

But yeah, you know, you're right.

Because look at this.

This is what you're talking about.

You're hiding all of these cables and everything right behind that.

Oh, that's really smart.

I like that.

I like that.

Okay, we'll do maybe a little quick speed round.

Keyboards.

Mechanical keyboards.

There's tons of them out there.

I hesitated for many, many years on getting a mechanical keyboard.

About maybe three years ago, I purchased the Keychron K1, K-E-Y-C-H-R-O-N, the Keychron K1 Pro.

Now, there's multiple others out there, and boy, you can go down some rat holes,

or whether you get the brown switches, the red switches, the blue switches.

I went with the brown.

I felt like that that was a very good balance between, you know, too much clicky clacky and just enough.

The Keychron makes some excellent mechanical keyboards.

And I just got this simple one.

I continue to use it and very much like it.

Quick one.

I love the app called Parcel, P-A-R-C-E-L.

It will automatically sync with your Amazon deliveries.

It basically is a single app that tells you when something's coming.

So if you order from Amazon, it automatically has it in there.

And if you order from some other place, just get that FedEx number, the UPS number, whatever,

stick it in Parcel.

And that way I have a single place to look that I can see this package is coming today.

This package is coming next Tuesday.

What's the status of it?

This one's sort of lost in transit.

Where is it?

It's this, I like having everything in one spot.

It's a great app.

Okay.

I wanted to ask quickly about this.

I'm sorry, even though I said it's a speed round, but you know, today the Apple wallet

will put, will look at your Mac, your Apple mail, and it'll find if you've got like an

Amazon delivery or Walmart delivery, and it will kind of track it in the same way.

Probably not as much detail as what you can get in the parcel app.

Right?

Yeah.

And again, I don't use the Apple mail app.

So I can't take advantage of that feature myself.

I mean, I use it for some specialized reasons, but it's not my main app.

So yeah, yeah, yeah.

Okay.

So Parcel just works great.

Yeah.

A long time ago, I used to use a separate app called Deliveries, but I don't think this

is going to do it anymore.

Parcel is a new one and it works great.

Works fantastic.

Okay.

Honorable mention, of course, Scanner Pro.

I mean, I use Scanner Pro all the time on both my iPhone and my iPad.

In fact, you know, I have a flat scanner, similar to what we were just talking about earlier

with like the pictures or, you know, the slides and stuff.

I have a flat scanner that I've had in my office.

I don't know that I've even used that.

Or the Fujitsu ScanSnap was a big thing for many years.

I don't even use that anymore, Jeff,

because the cameras on my iPhone and my iPad are so good.

And I use it with the Scanner Pro app.

It's just, it's a must have.

Like I'm with you.

The first apps that I install on any new iPhone or Mac

is going to be one password typically

because that has all my passwords for everything,

including my passwords probably for Scanner Pro as well.

But this, it just, I use it all the time for just receipts,

for book articles that I want to preserve and save, for example,

just really, really great.

Yeah.

And if we're getting close to the end here,

but I might end up with one of my all-time favorites,

the GoodNotes app for taking handwritten notes.

Oh, yes.

Along with the Apple Pencil Stylus

for writing those handwritten notes.

I use it throughout the day, every day,

when I'm in meetings, when I'm on phone calls,

anytime I'm jotting things down at home.

It's just, I like having the little organized notebooks.

It's just GoodNotes is such a fantastic app.

I could not be a bigger fan of it.

And you continue to use GoodNotes.

The other big one that I know we talk about

almost every time when you bring it up is Notability.

I've tended to use Notability.

In fact, I think I got a subscription for my daughter.

She's in nursing school and she uses Notability all the time

for similar to things what you're talking about

is that anytime she's got notes or she's got images

or pictures that she wants to take notes on.

I mean, both of these, I'm thrilled that there is the competition between GoodNotes and Notability

because anytime one app offers a new feature, the other one will come along pretty soon after this.

And I know you just continue to live it, and it's just great to be able to have access into GoodNotes.

And by the way, quickly, I had OneNote, Microsoft OneNote that I mentioned before.

Again, I think of these as separate things.

I will turn typically to GoodNotes and Notability if I'm like handwriting, typically with my Apple Pencil.

on something like a PDF file,

but Microsoft OneNote is almost like,

well, the way I typically would describe it, Jeff,

and you'll get this,

Microsoft OneNote is like the old trapper keeper

that we used to use

when we were in middle school, at high school, right?

It's like a place where I can just stuff everything

and it keeps track of everything for me.

Whereas good notes or notability

is like carrying around a yellow legal pad, right?

If I just want to write some notes or something like that.

And that's sort of how I think about it as well.

We should probably stop there.

I mean, I could keep going.

We could go on for another five hours, but I think that's enough.

That's good.

Well, thanks, everybody, for listening.

And hey, once Jeff posts this on iPhone JD, feel free to jump into the comments and add some of your own tips or gadgets or things.

We always enjoy seeing those things and hearing from folks.

You're welcome to always reach out to us and let us know what apps that you're using these days that we would be interested in looking at as well.

Thanks, Jeff, and we'll talk with you next week.

Thanks, Brad.

Bye-bye, everybody.
